So, How Do I Choose the Perfect Chevy Truck for Me?

Be it a pickup truck, or a sub-compact sedan, the first question to ask yourself would be “how will I use this vehicle?” Think about how you will use your new Chevy truck the most. Will it be strictly for heavy-duty, or mostly for getting around town and occasional stops at the big box home center? Chevrolet pickups offer all of the same comfort and convenience features that come with their entire line of vehicles but add an unmatched level of capability and flexibility. So, once you narrow down your exact needs, you’ll be able to make a choice based on each truck's specific features and abilities.
Here’s a more detailed look at each Chevy truck.

The Chevy Colorado

Chevrolet offers the Chevy Colorado in four trim levels - Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, and ZR2. Four-wheel drive comes standard in the ZR2 and as an option on other models. Engine choices include a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that delivers 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque; a 3.6L DOHC V6 engine that produces 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque; and a Duramax 2.8L four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that delivers 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The Colorado can tow up to 6,000 pounds and can carry almost 50 cubic feet of cargo.

The Chevy Silverado 1500

The Colorado’s big brother - the Chevy Silverado - offers even more power (495 LB-Feet of torque), more towing ability (13,300 LBS), and more cargo capacity (almost 63 cubic feet), than the capable Colorado. Engine options include a 2.7L Turbo, a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8, 6.2L EcoTec3 V8, and a 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel. Availability for each depends on which of the nine trims buyers opt for. An eight or ten-speed transmission comes standard on most trims, and Chevrolet also offers a 10-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision shift. Regular cab models come with a choice of standard or long beds, double cab configurations come in standard bed only, and crew cab buyers get a choice of short or standard beds.

The Chevy Silverado 2500/3500HD

Chevrolet really ups the ante with the Silverado HD lineup. With as much as 36,000 pounds of towing and the ability to carry almost 7,300 pounds, the Silverado HD takes on pretty much everything thrown its way. Chevrolet offers HD models with two engine choices - a 6.6L V8 Gas engine, or a Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8. Both options get paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. With up to 14 different camera views, the Silverado HD line also leads its class when it comes to towing. New for 2024, Chevrolet’s Transparent Trailer View feature is now available for both conventional and fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailering. Other standard or available features on the 2024 Silverado HD, that help take the stress out of hauling large trailers include Trailer Side Blind-Zone Alert and the newly available Adaptive Cruise Control with trailering.
